There are a number of key decisions that go into the design and planning of an automated finishing system. Once the coating material has been selected for the project, the next significant consideration involves choosing the method of conveying the parts through the coating system. The selection of the type of conveyor to be used will profoundly affect system design parameters such as the spray booth design, the type of parts fixturing, the pretreat and cure techniques possible, and, ultimately, the level of finish quality that can be achieved and maintained over the life of the production run.
