As the winds of change blow through the ￡k industry in the new millennium, one electroplater is wasting little time adapting to the business climate. During a time when some metal finishers advocate a wait-and-see attitude, Roy Metal Finishing (RMF; Greenville, S.C.) is making significant changes to create a platform for growth. "The financial success of Roy Metal Finishing speaks for itself," observed Kelly Brennan, CEO of Pavco (Warrensville Heights, Ohio), a supplier of zinc brighteners, chromates, cleaners, lacquers, sealers, and dyes. "A recent expansion and investment during the recession is a more symbolic example of Cliff Roy's leadership ability and willingness to take this industry forward." Since it opened in 1961, RMF evolved into a major Tier 2 supplier to domestic and international automotive manufacturers in the Southeast, providing barrel and rack zinc and zinc alloy plating. But it hasn't been easy. The firm is situated in an area rapidly becoming known as a new center for automotive commerce, as more than 1,000 automotive suppliers are located within 500 miles of RMF's Greenville headquarters.
