In the Absence of Pollution Control

This column is about what happened when a common cleaning solvent was used without pollution-control tactics, some new science about txicology, speculation about how that science will affect future environmental regulations, and the future cost of not controlling pollution. This column Is not guidance against using trichloroethylene (TCE) in solvent cleaning operations. TCE was chosen simply as a topical example of what can happen in the absence of pollution-control activities.
