PVD Hard Coating as a Surface Treatment

PVD hard coating as a surface treatment in mass production requires a new process technology for hard coating equipment and also for cleaning substrates. The special situation in the mass production of faucets and other sanitary components demands sound development and implementation of the process to provide the basis for a high and consistent quality standard. Other than decorative coatings used in such industries as watch, optical, or jewelry, the sanitary industry has a far larger product variety. Equipment for sinks and bath tubs consists of a number of components. Towel or glass holders, shower heads, valves and covers are manufactured. These products are produced from different materials, and various manufacturing methods are utilized. Metals, mainly brass alloys, cast, forged, and rolled, are used.
