Much of the country is still reeling from the after-effects of the "Great Recession," with quarterly economic growth chugging along at an anaemic pace and job gains (especially in manufacturing) still falling below the levels where analysts thought we would be at this point in the recovery. But in walking the bustling halls of the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Mass., during the EASTEC 2013 earlier this year, you didn't get the sense that any of those issues had dampened the spirits of the scores of buyers and business owners/operators in attendance at the show.
