The calculation of stresses in cable stayed bridges is semplified if, in our first estimate, we hypothesi- se rectilinear suspension cables and replace the ef- fective modulus of the material with the equivalent one to take their non-linear response into account, Dischinger's tangent modulus and Ernst's secant Modulus are well known.
