Antimony smelters in the Chinese production base of Lengshuijiang, Hunan province, have stopped output, following government orders to prepare for a new round of environmental inspections. All production ceased on Septemberi, market sources said. "Producers were asked to stop and improvetheirfacilities before September 30, then wait for a provincial-level check. In other words, smelters won't be able to open before October, and even afterthat, it is still not certain which companies will be able to resume operation," a producer in Lengshuijiangsaid.
