Tootsie Roll Industries and its consolidated subsidiaries are engaged in the manufacture and sale of confectionery products. This is the only industry segment in which Co. operates and is its only line of business. They are sold through candy and grocery brokers and by Co. itself to customers throughout the U.S. These customers include wholesale distributors of candy and groceries, supermarkets, variety stores, dollar stores, chain grocers, drug chains, discount chains, cooperative grocery associations, mass merchandisers, warehouse and membership club stores, vending machine operators, the U.S. military and fund-raising charitable organizations.
