For more than 50 years Schlafhorst has produced cross-wound package winding machines. Schlafhorst opened the door to automatic yarn winding with the launch of the automatic winding machine Autoconer 107. Since then, the brand name "Autoconer" has come to be the generic name for high-speed package winding machines, the quintessence of automatic winding, in many countries. The quality of the yarn package produced is a criterion for the decision in favour or against a given winding machine concept. This is why the most important performance characteristic of a winding machine is a package structure that meets the requirements of the processes downstream of winding in optimal measure. For quality and economic efficiency in the winding process, yarn tension is the fundamental parameter. The level of yarn tension determines the structure and build of the yarn package, and hence the unwinding performance of the package in the subsequent production processes, thus exerting great influence on productivity in the textile production chain.
