Caustic soda recovery of mercerizing lye is widely used, especially for bleached woven fabrics. This can be easily done by an evaporation process; just the water has to be removed. Depending on the capacity huge savings are possible (up to 1.5 million US$/year for production capacity of 100,000 m/day) Korting Hannover AG, Hanover/Germany, has achieved the recovery of mercerizing lye from denim or yarn dyed fabrics successfully.
