摘要

Spinning is the process which provides required quality of raw material in the form of yarn for the weaving and knitting process. For the sustainable development of spinning, weaving and knitting process, spinners ensure to produce improved quality of the yarn with higher production rate. To satisfy the need of higher production with the better quality yarn, different machine manufacturer continue to develop the technology of the machines. The carding process has a major influence on the sliver and yarn quality. In this study the technological developments in the card is considered and the influence of improvement in technology on the ring yarn quality is analyzed. For the sake of the study, different cards developed by Rieter AG (C4, C10 and C51), Winterthur/Switzerland, and Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd. (LC300A V3), Coimbatore/India, were selected. The sliver and yarn of processed materials were tested on AFIS and UT-5 testers. From the analysis of the results it is clear that developed card technology plays important role in producing better quality yarn.
