La maladie artérielle périphérique est une complication fréquente du diabète. Son dépistage précoce permet d'identifier un sous-groupe de patients avec une comorbidité et une mortalité cardio-vasculaire particulièrement élevée. Le pied diabétique, de par son atteinte plurifactorielle (ischémique, neuropathique, infectieuse), représente un défi thérapeutique pour les différents intervenants (diabétologues, angiologues, infectiologues et chirurgiens).
