Whether suffering can be coherently described, let alone analyzed, is the central question of this collection. Violence and suffering are characterized in terms of the dehumanizing effects, the impossibility of making sense or the intention to inform a policy or legal system. This volume - a tribute to the academic and campaigning work of Meg Stacy - shows that war and its consequences for health have the attention of researchers.
