Military Medical Ethics for the 21st Century is a brave, revealing and sometimes very worrying volume of contributions from 29 authors with a variety of academic and military backgrounds. There is less of a geographical spread with over half the authors being from the US. The chapters are grouped in the three sections on (1) Battlefield Ethics; (2) Military Medical Ethics and New Technologies; and (3) Patient Rights, Research Ethics and Military Medical Ethics. It is perhaps in the nature of discussions about ethics that, with a few exceptions, readers will find a deeper understanding of the problems, rather than definitive answers.
