With nonwovens in short supply following a surge in demand during the human coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Global Protective Gear of Orange County, California, USA, has developed an alternative fabric for the production of isolation gowns, which are used to prevent the contamination of clothing. The supplier of medical protective gear is now manufacturing Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Level 1 (minimal risk) and Level 2 (low risk) isolation gowns from a lightweight 100% polyester (PES) fabric with a waterproof polyurethane (PU) coating.
