Besides being home to Wayne Farms' slaughtering and poultry-processing plant, Dothan, Alabama, is also known as the "Peanut Capital of the World." During a recent visit to tour that plant, it was hard to miss the ubiquitous oversized sculptures of stylized peanuts inside and outside businesses throughout the city, commemorating its nutty roots and most were painted by area artists. Not to be outdone by the city's "Elvis Nut," "State Trooper Peanut," or the all pink "Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer Nut," Wayne Farms added a feathered version of a peanut just outside its plant in 2018. Wayne Farms' Sarah Wilbourn (left) and Megan Ernst posed with Editor Joel Crews (just for the "shell" of it).
