JAB Holding Co. began the year with a bang, announcing plans to acquire and merge the Dr Pepper Snapple Group with its Keurig Green Mountain business. The combination created a complementary portfolio with access to high-growth segments of the beverage industry. The formation of Keurig Dr Pepper was finalized in July. Robert J. Gamgort, who previously led Pinnacle Foods and Keurig Green Mountain, was named chief executive officer of the combined company. Larry Young, c.e.o. of Dr Pepper Snapple, retired from the company and joined the Keurig Dr Pepper board of directors. "Our view of the industry through the lens of consumer needs, versus traditional manufacturer-defined segments, unlocks the opportunity to combine hot and cold beverages and create a platform to increase exposure to high-growth formats," Mr. Gamgort said in January, when the transaction was announced. "We are fortunate to have talented leadership teams within both companies, and I look forward to working together with the Dr Pepper Snapple team to make this combination a success for all of our stakeholders."
