Cogitations on Power and Consequences of Measurement

David Hand (2016) has written a book that is part of a series of very short introductions on varied topics from "Islam to Sociology, Politics to Classics, and Literary Theory to History." The website for this series emphasizes that these books are intended to be short, yet "balanced and complete," and to include "discussions of the central issues in a given topic" (Oxford University Press, 2017). There is much to like about Hand's (2016) book on measurement. We found it to be entertaining, readable, and accessible-not a small feat for a broad and nuanced topic like measurement.
