Available online: 17th of January 2014. This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal. This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. The authors have manipulated an image that had already appeared in Mater. Des., 35 (2012) 251-258,10.1016/j.matdes.2011.09.057. Image manipulation violates the principle of ethical publishing and is not acceptable. As such this article represents an abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
