摘要

The metal hydroxides have attracted much attention in the recent search for efficient additives to enhance the thermal stability of various polymers. As an outstanding candidate, magnesium hydroxide (MH) is a good flame retardant and smoke suppressant. The poly(vinyl chloride)/magnesium hydroxide (PVC/ MH) composites filled with different amounts of the magnesium hydroxide (MH) particles with different sizes and morphologies were prepared by the solution blending method with THF as the solvent. Their thermal stabilities were compared by the simple thermogravi-metric analysis (TGA) technique. A facile chemical analysis method was developed to examine the thermal stabilising effect of the MH particles with different sizes after the samples pyrolysed.
