摘要

The addition of zirconia to alumina has been a subject of interest for quite a long time for many researchers. The sand abrasion of these composite mate- rials, however, has rarely been discussed the literature. This paper reports the preparation of two different types of alumina-zirconia composites by adding either m-zirconia or t-zirconia, in different amounts, to the alumina matrix and the study of their various properties. The sand abrasion resistance test was carried out following the ASTM G-65 standard. The abrasion-resistant be- havior shown by this test is correlated with the other properties of the as-prepared alumina-zirconia composites. This paper presents a high abrasion resistant alumina-zirconia composite material.
