Uniform and monodispersed TiO2 colloidal-assembled rice-like mesoporous structures (TCMs) with (001) facets exposure have been synthesized via a simple and direct hydrothermal method, in which directly controlled hydrolysis of tetrabutyl titanate (TBOT) in acetic acid (HAc) without adding any template reagents. The physical and chemical properties of TCMs were studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). The photocatalytic activity of the TCMs was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) aqueous solution under simulated ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation. The experimental results showed that the TCMs exhibited a much better photocatalytic activity than that of PT (pure TiO2 microspheres). Crown Copyright (C) 2015 Published by Elsevier B.V.
