摘要

In this work, the mechanical and sliding wear properties of dissimilar friction stir welded joints of aluminium alloys of AA6063-T6 and AA5052-H32 was investigated. A total twelve friction stir welded joints were prepared at two different tool rotational speed of 710 and 1000 rpm, twodifferent welding speed of 20 and 28 mm/min with three different tools of shoulder diameters of 15, 18 and 21 mm. The tool rotation speed of 1000 rpm and welding speed of 28 mm/min was emerged to produce a joint of higher tensile and wear resistant properties compared to other joints for thesame tool and a highest tensile property was achieved with a tool of 18 mm shank diameter. Microstructural investigations revealed the formation of alternative lamellae and complex vortex like flow patterned structures along the thermo-mechanically affected zone of both aluminium alloys at710 rpm tool rotation speed and 20 mm/min welding speed.
