A New Spin on Cleaning Subway Insulators - Cleaner is Greener

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) Transit IDEA Program, funded by the U.S. Federal Transit Administration (FTA), supported a set of two completed projects that developed a device to clean insulators in place. The TRB Transit IDEA program funds promising applied research proposals for innovative methods that have the potential to advance transit safety, security and efficiency, or increase transit ridership. The first generation cleaning device used a spinning round jet of very high pressure water.
