New Carrousel Tug Design is Offered by Novatug

Novatug, a Rotterdam-based company formed to develop and market the unique Carrousel towing system, has launched a new Compact Carrousel tug design. This follows the successful completion of trials with the promised winch system. The Carrousel towing system allows the towing point to rotate through 360° around the tug, enabling the vessel to make full use of indirect towing methods in complete safety. The prototype Carrousel tug, Multratug 12, has proven the system under trials conditions and while carrying out numerous harbour towage operations. The results show that the braking and steering forces generated by the tug can be multiplied by a factor of five, whilst safety remains guaranteed. At the same time operating costs (fuel, maintenance, surveys and damages) are substantially decreased.
