Seawork exhibitor Cheetah Marine recently built two moonpool equipped Cheetah 7.9m Survey Catamarans simultaneously. One, a hydrographic survey vessel for the Saudi Ports Authority, was the subject of a Vessel Launch story in the March 2007 MJ.rnThe other boat, Macoma, has been delivered to the School of Ocean Sciences at the University of Bangor in Wales UK. Macoma will be used for academic research as well as training students for a variety of oceanographic disciplines, including geological seafloor surveys, water sampling and current measurement.rnOne of Macoma's first projects will involve research by Japanese academics from the Institute of Ocean Research at the University of Tokyo and the Department of Fisheries at the University of Kyoto. They will measure tidal flows in restricted regions of the Menai Straits.
