October 2006 saw the naming ceremony of the third and fourth container vessel in a new series of flexible container vessels, the Damen Container Feeder 800. The naming ceremony took place in Galati, Romania. Mrs. Mahler, wife of the managing director of Stuewe & Co. KG, performed the naming of the 'Smaland' and Mrs. Kahrs, wife of Mr. Jan Kahrs performed the naming of the 'Halland'. The ships were ordered by the German ship owners Bernd Becker and Jan Kahrs from Jork and have completely been built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania.
