Damen Shipyards will construct the first NH 1816 Class vessel by the end on 2012 for the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution, KNRM. The concept of the vessel, an advanced 'on-scene coordination search and rescue vessel', took shape with help of the TU Delft, TNO, MARIN, Damen Shipyards and De Vries Lentsch Naval Architects and will be named De Noordhollandsche 1816, after its sponsor.
