摘要

The plans to reduce the fishery funds from the European Union, intended for the Netherlands, will not proceed. The original plans for the reduction were the result of negotiations on the EU budget for 2014-2020. In the new European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) the Netherlands would receive 7% less than the originally planned € 50 million. Due to Sharon Dijksma, the State Secretary of Economic Affairs, this has been cancelled, as she relied on the strong commitment of the Netherlands to increasing the sustainability of the fisheries sector. Dijksma: "The call for sustainable fishing is getting stronger. The fish on our shelves must meet increasing criteria. That is a good thing and at the same time it means that the fisheries sector must embed the sustainable fishing in their business, while growing towards an independence and a strong, economical position. Less money would complicate this process and that has been prevented."
