Imtech Marine Canada awarded first subcontract from Seaspan Shipyards

Imtech Marine Canada (IMC), a technical services provider, has been awarded its first subcontract of the extensive Canadian government National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) Programme for the engineering of an offshore fisheries science vessel. In 2011 it became already clear that Imtech Marine would be involved as a technology partner of Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards. The Canadian government has planned the construction of a number of navy and coast guard research vessels as a part of the NSPS Programme. Imtech Marine will be involved in the creation of the non-combat section. This is expected to comprise two joint support ships, an offshore oceanographic science vessel that will conduct oceanographic research, and three offshore fisheries science vessels that will conduct research into the fish stock and the development of local ecosystems.
