Becker Marine Systems (BMS) and Kotug recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a LNG Hybrid Barge in the port of Rotterdam. The LNG Hybrid Barge, a floating energy plant, will provide environmentally friendly power for moored cruise ships in the port of Rotterdam. During winter season the floating energy plant will also be able to deliver heat for ships, factories and central city heating. The vessel is an alternative for producing electricity in the traditional way by either their generator sets or their main engines. BMS is the owner of the LNG Hybrid Barge and Kotug will move the floating energy plant and provide commercial, technical and operational management for the vessel. The launch is expected in June 2017.
