Environmental Control and Port Management: Funding, Technology and Professional Training

摘要

European countries bordering the Mediterranean promote a number of initiatives in order to promote environmental conservation, prevention and control of pollution. In this context, there is wide agreement among marine scientists that, for proper management of the marine environment, monitoring methods must first be adequate. Since the health of large areas of the Mediterranean are involved, it is important, in addition to physical-chemical analysis, to focus on the biological aspects, first and foremost the communities and populations, in order to obtain a more effective comparative framework. Moreover it is clearly necessary for environmental programs to include teaching activities concerning the collection and use of data, pollution assessment, EIA rules etc.
