摘要

The goal of this work was to investigate the pollution of Peter the Great Bay near Vladivostok, using the 'Mussel Watch' approach, i.e. taking samples of mussels and bottom sediments for the analysis of priority pollutants. Successful use of mussels for marine pollution monitoring was demonstrated within the U.S. Mussel Watch Programs in the 1970s and 1980s (Farrington ct al., 1983; Goldberg ct al., 1983; Lauenstein ct al., 1990). A Mussel Watch component is currently incorporated in the NOAA National Status and Trends (NS & T) Program (O'Connor, 1992). At the same time, an International Mussel Watch project is being implemented, including an Asia-Pacific stage (Tanabe, 1994).
