Ocean thermal energy research continues

Back in the 1970s, Lockheed Martin built the "Mini-OTEC," the world's only floating ocean thermal energy conversion system to generate power in excess of what is required for self-sustainment. Put simply, the idea behind O T E C technology is to use the temperature difference between warm water on the ocean's surface and cold water deep below to create clean, renewable power.
