Bills introduced to provide tax credits for offshore wind

Financing continues to be the biggest hurdle to offshore wind development off the coast of the U.S. Now legislation introduced in both the U.S. House and the Senate hopes to create a more stable investment picture for offshore wind developers by providing tax credits. Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) and Senator O1ym-pia Snowe (R-ME) have introduced the Offshore Wind Power Act, S.1397, in the U.S. Senate. The bill's cospon-sors are Sens. Robert Menen-dez (D-N.J.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).
