SCR SYSTEM FOR STATEN ISLAND FERRY

Johnson Matthey, Malvern, Pa., was awarded a contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the New York City Department of Transportation to provide a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emission control system for Staten Island Ferry's John A. Noble. The contract is part of an ongoing effort to reduce NOx emissions in the New York City metropolitan area. Built by Derecktor Shipyards, Bridgeport, Conn., and in operation since 1986, the 196 ft John A. Noble will be equipped with a SCR system that includes a Johnson Matthey oxidation catalyst, SCR injection system, piping and urea ammonia grid.
