Shipboard crime and passenger safety are in the crosshairs of the U.S. Coast Guard, which has proposed several changes to its passenger vessel regulations that implement the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2010 (CVSSA). The changes not only address deck rails and man-overboard detection systems, but also crime scene evidence gathering, sexual assault response, and crime scene prevention training. The public will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed changes until April 16, 2015.
