A three-year research project with the objective of assessing the most suitable antifouling paints for deep-sea going vessels, is now underway. The German Environmental Foundation-funded and World Wildlife Fund-co-ordinated project, which began in October last year, will evaluate the performance of a range of non-biocidal paints on several ship types and the relation between days at sea and in harbour.
