Resurrecting the Limburg

For three days after terrorists had bombed her as she prepared to enter Ash-Shir port, off Yemen's southeastern coast, the French VLCC Limburg continued to burn. Fire penetrated the side shell of the double-hull vessel and passed into the cargo tank; the extent of the damage was such that the vessel was declared a total constructive loss and put up for sale. Singapore-based ship manager Tanker Pacific Manager bought the ship and awarded the repair contract to Dubai Drydocks. Within four months, and over half a million man hours later, the vessel would be overhauled, restored and renamed.
