Per Holmvang talks candidly about his efforts to tackle boycotts, bribery cases as well as the high impact of low sulphur fuels. In 20 years with DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS) Per Holmvang is unlikely to have faced as challenging a year as the last 12 months. As well as the advent of MARPOL Annex Ⅵ and the revised ISO 8217 standard, he has had to contend with a supplier boycott and the fallout resulting from three subcontractors being convicted for accepting bribes from a local supplier. Even for a man who started his career as a research scientist and is accustomed to puzzling over the most complex formulations, Holmvang concedes that the boycott is proving especially intractable.
