BOXSHIP BUILDERS' BONANZA

The container industry is at it again. Just as the world teeters on the brink of a further economic recession, the boxship boys are ordering tonnage as if the world economy is booming! According to analysis just released by the research division of Braemar's Seascope, containership orders are increasing at a dramatic rate. Figures show that since the beginning of this year 52 containerships of 10 000TEU or larger have been ordered compared to just 10 vessels from this size band for the whole of 2010 and not a single example of this size throughout the whole of 2009.
