A joint venture agreement between Waertsilae and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for the take-over of Waertsilae's two-stroke engine business, announced last July, is to go ahead as planned having received the necessary governmental approvals. The JV company, owned 70% by CSSC and 30% by Wartsila, is to be named Winterthur Gas & Diesel. Retaining a corporate headquarters at its namesake location in Switzerland, the new entity assumes ownership of Waertsilae's two-stroke engine technology, but responsibility for servicing will remain with Waertsilae via its global service network.
