United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) of Russia has increased its ownership share of Arctech Helsinki Shipyard from 50% to 100%, buying out STX Europe's shares. The Arctech yard was founded in December 2010 when the joint venture (JV) of USC and STX took over the old Hietalahdenyard. The JV was established to respond to the growing need for Arctic shipbuilding and to unite the Finnish and Russian maritime clusters. Arctech stated the new ownership arrangement is expected to further strengthen the Finnish-Russian shipbuilding cooperation.
