SAFETUG II launches at ITS

The bi-annual International Tug and Salvage (ITS) Convention and Exhibition was held in Singapore last month. This congress, albeit relatively small in itself, gains more and more attention every time. The growth reflects the increasing size and importance of this industry. Although the salvage business can boast a declining number of casualties, emergency response requirements put into place around coastlines are increasing. In addition, there is a booming offshore industry which leads to an increase in berthing tug activities and this work is expected to continue to grow. Additionally, there is a growth in power requirements in the harbour (escort) towage sector.
