Wal-Mart continues to dominate the retail scene in its home market with sales more than four times larger than its closest competitor. According to Planet Retail's recently published Top 30 Grocery Retailers in North America, North American retail banner sales for Wal-Mart topped US$274 billion in 2005, giving it a total market share of 15.5 percent and a 9.9 percent share of the region's grocery market.
