Why should we involve ourselves in collaborative e-business? Is it a fad? Is the technology really available? In what ways will it change businesses - in terms of trading, product design, manufacturing, lead times, the supply chain? Are other manufacturers in the UK doing much about it? And what about suppliers and customers? These are typical of questions we hear time and again. And with the 'high ground' apparently being taken by IT vendors' marketing people and analysts' consultants - each with their own quite different spins, language and acronyms - mostly the answers are confusing, not to say downright conflicting, and certainly not useful.
