Application of eco-friendly Floral dye on natural fibre : Flax

Man was fascinated by the nature of color and to its vibrations externally. Thus started the alchemy of colors. India was a forerunner in the art of natural dyes. Natural dyes are renewable by its nature. Natural dye can be extracted from flowers by aqueous method. The portion can be applied on hydrophilic substrate like bast fiber. The hydrophilic textile substrate like 100% flax were chosen and prepared for the application of dye to obtain true shades of natural dye. Four chosen flowers were Marigold, Butterfly pea, China rose and Balsam. Use of acid dye bath choice of acid showed a definite improvement in the substantivity. Result showed good substantivity on flax fiber. There was also improvement in the fastness property.
