New cyclodextrin-based polymers for textile finishing applications

Cyclodextrins have long been used for use in food and drug industry for a long time now. However their applications in textile industry is in a nascent stage with a lot of activity taking place. A number of techniques are being utilized to take advantage of the inclusion behaviour of the cyclodextrins to enhance the end product properties or give the textile an added properly. This article reviews the status of the cyclodextrin and cyclodextrin based polymers for textile finishing applications and some recent work done in our laboratory.
