Effects of seaming on drapeability of washed and scoured plain woven shirting fabric

The following conclusions are drawn from the above experimental work:- (1) The fabric parameters and DC are correlated and the value of correlation coefficient improves due to the washing and scouring treatment. (2) Seam allowance has little effect on DC, which is not significant at 1% and 5% levels. (3) The number of seams has marked effect on DC and is significant at 1% and 5% levels. (4) The washed and scoured fabric have more uniformity of drape characteristics than parent fabric. (5) The drape behaviour of 100% polyester and polyester/ viscose fabrics are more uniform and 100% silk fabric has less uniformity and these are subjected to washing and scouring treatments.
