摘要

In this project work, an attempt has been made to use new alternatives for reducing vat dyes. Hydrose as the dominant reducing agent produces large amounts of sodium sulphate, toxic sulphate and thio-sulphate as by-products in vat dyeing. There are various alternative reduction methods like electrochemical, ultrasonic energy, etc were deployed but all the above process lags feasibility only because of its cost and high skills requirement. In this project, it is proposed to replace those hazardous reducing agents with the eco-friendly natural reducing agent derived from sugarcane industry waste.rnSamples were dyed with vat dyes using natural reducing agents (sugarcane extract) and are analysed for various fastness properties & are also analysed to study the effluent load on various samples.
